Practicing Psychoanalysis
Overview
If you're reading this, Psychoanalysis is just as much an object of fascination for you, as it is for me and everyone else. This fascination, fed by its inherent mystification and a spoonful of social media has made Psychoanalytic language available, without the depths, contours and reality (principle) it demands.
Since L&F is built on the roots of Psychoanalysis as a living, breathing, ordinary moment of collective complexities, we're thrilled to invite a small cohort to our first 10-week Foundational Training in Psychoanalytic Clinical Work.
What This Workshop Will Explore
Structural diagnosis. The ability to think in terms of neurotic, borderline, and psychotic levels of organisation — not as labels but as working maps of how a person has learned to hold themselves together.
Analytic listening. The capacity to hear what is not being said, to read defence as communication, and to stay inside the transference-countertransference field without being swept away by it.
Clinical formulation. The ability to move from a presenting complaint through developmental history, defence organisation, and relational patterns toward a coherent treatment plan.
Technique. Working knowledge of the frame, the use of silence, the handling of endings, the ethics of the clinical encounter, and the particular challenges of long-term work.
A path into the practice. Clinicians who demonstrate genuine analytic sensibility over the ten weeks would be invited to join Lost & Found Psychotherapy in a full-time clinical capacity.
