Lost & Found Psychotherapy

Consent terms: individual therapy

Before you begin

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy works with the foundations of how we think, feel and relate, including the patterns we repeat without choosing. It asks you to speak about difficult parts of your life, and along the way you may feel sadness, guilt, anger, frustration or helplessness. Working through these feelings is part of the work. It is how insight becomes change in how you live and relate.

Please take a few minutes to read these terms before you book.

About Lost & Found

Lost & Found Psychotherapy is a psychoanalytic practice, registered in 2023. Our therapists are trained to work with complexity and to hold a steady, ethical therapeutic frame. We follow the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the ethics of psychoanalytic practice.

Your therapist

You have the right to know who you are working with. Your therapist’s qualifications, training and supervision are listed on their profile page, linked on this booking page.

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy is confidential. Your therapist will not share it without your written permission, except in these circumstances:

  • Risk of serious harm. If your therapist believes you are at risk of seriously harming yourself or someone else, they may contact your emergency contact or the people best placed to keep you or others safe. Where possible, this will be discussed with you first.
  • Clinical supervision. Your therapist may discuss their work with you with a clinical supervisor. Your name and identifying details are left out.
  • Legal requirement. Disclosure may be required by law, a court order or a lawful authority.

Authorised Lost & Found administrative staff see only what is needed for scheduling, billing and coordination. They do not see clinical content.

Safety

If you have strong urges to harm yourself or someone else, please tell your therapist. Therapy is not an emergency service. In a crisis, contact a trusted person who can be with you, your nearest hospital emergency department, or a crisis helpline. If your therapist feels you need additional support, such as a psychiatric consultation, they will discuss a referral with you.

Fees and payment

The fee for each session is shared with you after your consultation call. Each session is paid in advance, through the booking page or by bank transfer to the account your therapist shares with you, at least 24 hours before the session. A session cannot begin until it is paid. Fees are reviewed once a year, and any change is discussed with you in advance.

Time, cancellation and missed sessions

Sessions last 50 minutes and take place online over Google Meet, unless agreed otherwise. They start and end on time. If you join late, the session still ends at its usual time.

Your session time is held for you alone. To cancel or reschedule, let your therapist know at least 24 hours before the session. A session cancelled with less notice, or missed, is charged in full.

Between sessions

WhatsApp and email are for scheduling, payments and logistics only. They are not used for therapy, for working things through, or for urgent emotional support. Please bring what comes up to your session, where it can be held properly. Messages are answered as soon as reasonably possible, but a reply is not immediate. If you are in crisis, do not rely on WhatsApp or email.

Online sessions and recording

For online sessions, please join from a private space where you cannot be overheard. Neither you nor your therapist may record a session, in audio or video, under any circumstances.

Outside the session

The therapeutic relationship stays inside the session. Your therapist will not engage with you socially, in person or online. This protects your privacy and keeps the work safe.

Your agreement

By ticking the box and typing your name on the booking page, you confirm that:

  • you have read and understood these terms, and had the chance to ask questions before booking
  • you are choosing to receive psychotherapy, and you may stop at any time
  • you consent to your therapist contacting your emergency contact, or others who can prevent harm, if they believe you or someone else is at serious risk

Your therapist is responsible for their clinical work and follows professional ethical guidelines. Lost & Found upholds standards of care across the practice. It cannot be held responsible for the outcomes of therapy, for decisions you make in your own life, or for circumstances outside the therapeutic frame.
