Psychotherapy in Times of Political Unrest
Overview
What do we offer a patient when the system is the thing that failed them?
Girish Karnad wrote Tughlaq in 1964, as the hope of a new nation began to sour. It follows a brilliant, idealistic Sultan who marches a whole city to Daulatabad and mints a coin anyone can forge. With every failure he grows more alone.
This workshop is for practising psychotherapists and aspiring mental health professionals to come together and think about their role during political unrest. There is no personal without the political, and so we wonder what kind of support we offer when the system fails our patients.
Participants are expected to read Girish Karnad's Tughlaq (1964) before the workshop, and to bring some art materials for a closing grounding activity.
What This Workshop Will Explore
